Othille Cynthia Veronica Mathurin

Othille C.V. Mathurin (nee Winter, May 6, 1944 – April 22, 2024) peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Trevor, children Renée, Rory, Audric, Arriann, daughter-in-law Jasmine, granddaughter Elisha, and siblings Elric, Celesty, Stephans, Glendon, Janice, Linley, and Andrea.  She was one of eleven siblings to her cherished parents Gladys and Ickford Winter. She now joins her dearly departed brothers Raphael, Paget, Elpert, Alexis, and Hewette. Othille journeyed far from her birthplace of Antigua, in the West Indies, to start a new life and her own family abroad. Her heart encompassed a vast extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, with whom she cherished close ties. She made her home on Long Island, NY a true hub of creative endeavors over the decades. Faith and Courage were her mainstay, as she overcame numerous challenges throughout the years. Othille's abiding faith and courage guided her through life's challenges, while her dedication to St. Martha’s Parish and the Legion of Mary reflected her commitment to her faith.Othille's unique personality and style endeared her to many, and her absence is deeply felt, yet her spirit finds eternal peace. A Wake will be held on Friday, May 3rd, from 5 pm to 9 pm at Hartnett Funeral Home in Uniondale, NY. Funeral Services will take place on May 4th at 9 am at Saint Martha’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by her burial at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Old Westbury, NY.
