Aminta Narvaez Obituary

Aminta Narvaez was born on December 12, 1918, in San Estanislao, Colombia, to Francisco Narvaez and Adelina Mena. She raised her only son, Angel, in Barranquilla as a single mother. Eight years after her son had moved to the United States with his wife, Beatriz, and their first child, Aminta traveled to New York and was reunited with them on August 5, 1983. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on January 22, 2000.

Aminta was blessed by God to live a full life. She rose early, liked bird songs and gardening, loved pizza, and always made sure that everyone was fed. Aminta was a deeply spiritual woman who memorized various Psalms and constantly prayed for others. She measured 5 feet 2 inches, but was a giant in terms of the love she poured out for her family and for any visitor that graced her table.

Affectionately known as “Ita,” “Tia’Minta,” and “Ami,” Aminta is survived by her son, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

We love you Ita. May you rest in the presence of God.
