Anne believed that education was the greatest equalizer and opened the doors for many to achieve their dreams. She served as the Director of Medical Records for various institutions, including United Presbyterian and then Four Seasons Nursing Home, for over 35 years until her retirement in 2018. She led multiple staff that she treated as family. In 2007, Anne co-authored Assassination Cry of a Failed Revolution, with her late brother William Gregory Smith based on his life.
