Obituary
Today we honor the life of my mom. She was truly an amazing woman who was the kindest and
most caring person I’ve ever known. I am grateful to each of you for recognizing my mother as
the wonderful woman she was. Thank you for taking the time to be here today. My mother Anne
Marie Boursiquot was loved by so many.
She was born on July 3, 1957 in Haiti La Vallee de Jacmel to parents Camelien Boursiquot and
Viergelie St.Claire Boursiquot. She met the love of her life Jean Andre Royal in 1975, who later
fathered their 5 children. She lived most of her adult life as a housewife and caregiver to her
family. She later followed her passion by becoming an entrepreneur in women’s fashion. If you
knew my mom, you knew how much she loved fashion, having her nails done, make up and
getting dressed up.
She valued education, sending her children to the finest schools and believed in working hard.
She loved to have a good time, enjoyed music, and kept everyone laughing. She was a strong
believer in her faith. My mother loved to share, always feeding others. You always had to eat
when you came to my mom’s house, she made sure of it!
She sacrificed more than I’ll ever know and even when she was putting everyone else before
herself, she still made time to listen to all our problems. She dedicated her life to family and
making sure we were supported in whatever we did and that we never felt anything other than
loved.
My mother kept her illness quite private. She never wanted to burden anyone with feeling like
they had to take care of her, especially on her more challenging days. Her selflessness didn't just
show up after she became sick but - she had been this way her whole life, putting others first and
wanting to be her family and friends' rock.
My mom was not perfect, she had her flaws. She was very stern and sometimes ruled with an
iron fist. If you knew my mom, you would agree she never held back her tongue for anyone or
anything, but her heart was always in the right place.
Anne Marie is preceded in death by her beloved parents and nine siblings. She is survived by her
lifelong companion Jean Andre Royal, her children Bernac Royal, Denise Royal, Andremene
Royal, Felerson Royal, Sherley Royal, her four sisters, her seven grandchildren and many more
extended family and friends.
Everyone who was fortunate enough to know her was in awe of everything she achieved. The
warmth and happiness she brought to us cannot be overstated. I loved her more than words could
possibly say, and she will live on in my heart forever more.
