Betty Lewis Obituary

A Divine Blessing

It was truly ordained by God that Betty reconnected with her pumpkin vine cousins in Grenada. What seemed like a chance meeting became a blessing that would carry her through her final chapter.

Words cannot fully express the love and care Betty received from Lisa and her husband Jason. Both trained CNAs, they served with such professionalism, knowledge, and tenderness. They were not alone — her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Williams, were amazing, and the entire pumpkin vine family came in full force.

Baths, meals, doctor's appointments, monitoring day and night — this was not a task for one person. Betty's home became a place of round-the-clock care, filled with family who gave selflessly and lovingly.

Forever, we are grateful.

Betty Elizabeth Lewis, née Williams, was born on February 10, 1942, in Grenada, West Indies, to Eileen Chasteau Crovador (formerly Williams) and Walter Williams. As the firstborn child, she was a guiding light for her large family.

Betty received her early education in Grenada, continued her studies in Trinidad, and later in the United States.

In February 1974, she married Winston Lewis. Betty built a dedicated career with the Long Island Railroad, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

She will be remembered for her great smile, her humor, and her loving and affectionate spirit. Betty showed deep concern for others and touched everyone she met with warmth and kindness. She was a private person, sharing only what she felt you needed to know, in order to protect the life she held dear.

Betty loved oldies music and the calypsoes of Jean and Dinah, which always brought her joy. She loved smelling good and was known for her beautiful perfumes. She also found delight in flea markets and yard sales, where she loved to browse and find treasures.

We will miss her sense of humor and her smile that faded with her illness. We will forever miss her.

She passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, in Long Island, New York, after a short illness. She was 84.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eileen Crovador (formerly Williams) and Walter Williams, and her brothers, Michael and Evelyn (Evo) Williams.

She is survived by her loving husband, Winston Lewis; her daughter, Annmarie; her son, Wade; her granddaughters, Tiffani ,Rinika, Kaya, Jada; her grandsons, Gerrad, Caleb and Jayden; her great-grandchildren; her sisters, Bernadette, Carmen, and Vilma; her brothers, Cyprian, Stanley, Shurland, and George; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
