Elaine Pereira

Elaine Pereira, 95, of Hempstead, NY, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on December 28, 1929, in Bronx, NY, Elaine lived a full and vibrant life devoted to her loved ones and her passions. She cherished time with her family, enjoyed traveling, and cared deeply for her beloved pets. A lifelong animal lover, she brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her. 

Elaine is survived by her children Karen Pereira, Yvonne Durkan (Padraig), Michael Pereira, and Maurice Pereira (Jo Ann), and was predeceased by her son Stephen Pereira. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom will forever treasure her love and guidance.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, from 4–8 p.m. at Hartnett Funeral Home, 561 Jerusalem Ave, Uniondale, NY.

A Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, August 20, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Saint Martha, 546 Greengrove Ave, Uniondale, followed by burial at Greenfield Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

Elaine loved bright colors; flowers in such hues are welcome, or donations in her memory may be made to the ASPCA at aspca.org
