Proverbs 31:30 — "Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised."
Felicia Fortuna Charles, 95 years old, of Hempstead NY, was born December 15, 1930 and passed away on September 11, 2026.
Felicia Fortuna Charles was born and raised in Anse A Veau, Haiti. She later moved to Port Au Prince, Haiti where she worked as a caretaker. She raised a tremendous family who now all reside across the United States. In 1998, she immigrated to the US to join her children in Hempstead NY. During her time in the US, she helped raise all of her beloved grandchildren and instilled a love & pride for their shared Haitian culture.
Felicia Fortuna Charles worked tirelessly to invest her time, energy, love & devotion into her family & community. She had a passion for cooking and cleaning, and loved to listen to worship music. She was very devoted to her faith in God. She was known for her infectious laugh, humor, and her compassion for people. She leaves her children a legacy of love and respect.
Felicia Charles was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, sacrifice, faith, strength, and service. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother and a beloved great-grandmother. Her family was her heart, and she loved them with a loyalty and protectiveness that could never be questioned. She would sacrifice whatever she had to make sure the people she loved were cared for, protected, and never left without help.
Felicia did not need to have much to give much. She made something out of everything she had. If someone was in need, she found a way to help. She was the kind of woman who would give away the clothes off her own back if she knew that doing so could help someone else. Her generosity was not limited to her family. Throughout her life, she collected clothing, food, and other necessities to donate to people in need, to the sick, and even to those incarcerated. She believed that no one should be forgotten simply because they were struggling.
Felicia was a religious sister whose deep compassion sprang directly from her faith. In her quiet moments, she was almost always found in prayer, caring for her family, or praying over those who were sick. For Felicia, prayer wasn't just a topic of discussion—it was a way of life. She bore the burdens of others as if they were her own, faithfully lifting them up before God.
Felicia was never one to sit back and watch life pass by. She was a true worker in the vineyard, a warrior for God with her boots firmly on the ground. She served through tireless action, boundless generosity, and an active love that gave strength to everyone around her.
She was fiercely loyal to her family, fiercely protective of those she loved, and fiercely devoted to her calling, she gave without keeping score, loved without condition, and sacrificed without ever asking for anything in return.
Above all, Felicia leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, generosity, and unconditional love. Her family will remember not only the things she did for them, but the way she made them feel—loved, protected, prayed for, and never alone.
She may no longer be here physically, but the work she did, the prayers she prayed, the sacrifices she made, and the love she poured into her family will continue through every generation that comes after her.
