Felix Michel Sapini

Me. Michel Felix “Féfé” Sapini passed away on February 10, 2021 at his place of residence in Lynbrook, New York, next to his daughters and caregiver. He graced this world for 90 years. He was born in Lascahobas, Haiti, to Annette Lerebours and Benoit Sapini on June 11, 1930. He was a graduate of the "Faculte de Droit de Port-Au-Prince" in Haiti where he received his law degree in October, 1965. He worked as a Prefet de Mirebalais, then moved up as division Chief  in the "Bureau des Contributions". He later worked as a consultant for the Social Minister while maintaining his own practice.

He was a member of the Haitian Soccer League. He was also a member of "Membre du Bureau des avocats" in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. He was part of a group of attorneys who amended Haiti's Constitution in 1987 after the popular uprising to overthrow the then dictatorship in Haiti in February, 1986. He was an accomplished lawyer and a political activist who was devoted to his countrymen. Till his last days, he expressed concerns about the plight of his beloved country. He enjoyed traveling to all the different parts of Haiti. He was an avid music lover, enjoyed listening to Celia Cruz and Julio Iglesias; and enjoyed going to carnival.

He was married to Anne-Marie Jacqueline Joseph, with whom he raised three children. For fear of his family's life he immigrated them to the United States in 1990 & 1991. He was dedicated to his family and community, he was a member of "Paroisse Altagrace de Delmas" in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. He was a devoted father and an exuberant grandfather. With a great sense of humor and cherished wisdom, he enjoyed life and was a very loyal friend. Michel is survived by his children Mr. Frantz, Ms. Grace N. Sapini, Dr. Claudine A. Sapini, Felix S. Sapini and his wife Ritcheer Masseus. He is survived by his beautiful grandchildren Alison, Dinah, Kira E. Vilus and Angelicka B. Sapini. His Brother, Maurice Sapini and sisters Irmine Sapini, Antonine Etienne, Dr. Marie-Marthe Sapini and Aimee Desir, along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Wake service for our beloved father's life will be held on Friday, February 19th, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Hartnett Funeral Home in Uniondale, NY. The funeral and prayer service will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) At St. Martha Church in Uniondale, NY. Both services can be viewed through live streaming at:  www.hartnettfuneralhome.com. The burial will immediately follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum in Farmingdale, NY.
