Marie Mehu Apollon, born on May 13, 1925, was raised in Port-Au-Prince and Cap Haitien, Haiti. She was a career normalienne and professor. She received her law degree from La Faculte de Droit in Haiti. She was a professor at Caroline Chauveau school in Haiti. From then she continued her journey to France, where she continued her teaching education with a scholarship from l’UNESCO in Paris. From there, she received an offer to go to Kinshasa, Congo to teach in 1965. While living and teaching in the Congo she met her future husband, Joseph Apollon, and got married in 1967. That marriage produced a son, Joseph Emmanuel Apollon, whom she raised to become a fine man! Marie left the Congo and came to the U.S. in 1981, where she pursued a career in nursing care. Marie was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity, always putting others before her and making a positive impact on everyone she encountered. She LOVED to pray. She had a special devotion to Saint Jude. On her loved ones birthdays, she Always had a cake, ice cream and soda ready to wish them a happy birthday to share with her neighbors. She loved to socialize with her neighbors and church family. Marie was always willing to help others. If she couldn’t help the individual herself, she would seek help for that person. She liked to play bingo as well. Marie is survived by her spouse, Joseph Apollon Sr.; Son, Joseph Emmanuel Apollon & his wife Sandra; her sister, Adeline Mehu Antoine; her loving grandchildren, Fabien, Lucas & Sidney; and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her memory will live on through the lives she touched. May Marie rest in peace, and may her memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those who loved her.
