Micheline Payen

October 17, 1946 – August 6, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Micheline Payen, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, and woman of deep faith. Micheline passed away following organ failure, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, faith, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Micheline was born on October 17, 1946, in La Vallée-de-Jacmel, Haiti, to the late Genevieve Dure Payen and Marcel Payen. She was one of nine siblings: Marguerite Beauzile, Odile Payen, Gabrielle Previllon, Micheline Payen, George Payen, Denis Payen, Francis Payen, Roland Payen, and Guy Payen. She was preceded in death by her siblings Denis Payen, Francis Payen, and Gabrielle Previllon.

Micheline pursued her education at Borough of Manhattan Community College and went on to build a long and dedicated career in the insurance industry. She worked for more than 30 years with New York Life Insurance Company, where she ultimately retired. Retirement, however, did not slow her down. She later worked as a school crossing guard, where her warm personality and caring nature made her a favorite among the children.

A deeply God-fearing woman, Micheline's faith was an important part of her life. She was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she joyfully sang in the church choir. Her faith, kindness, and willingness to serve others were reflected not only in her church life but in everything she did.

Micheline was a woman who was always on the move. Whether shopping at the local grocery store, traveling with her sisters, or visiting family and close friends, she enjoyed being surrounded by the people she loved. She had a special gift for making others feel cared for. She loved to cook and took great pleasure in spoiling her nieces and nephews with food, treats, and affection.

Above all, Micheline adored her only son, Cory, and lived her life for his happiness. Her love for him was evident in all that she did.

Micheline was also deeply committed to her family, friends, and community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and contribute to the well-being of others, including family and friends both in the United States and back home in Haiti. Her generosity knew no boundaries, and she gave of herself freely whenever someone was in need.

Those who knew Micheline will remember her beautiful spirit, her unwavering faith, her generous heart, her love of family, and, most of all, her smile. She had a way of bringing warmth and joy wherever she went. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared and the memories she created will live on forever.

Micheline leaves behind her beloved son Cory, her surviving brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and countless friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Though she is no longer with us physically, Micheline's legacy of faith, love, kindness, generosity, and family will continue through all those whose lives she touched.

May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of God. May her memory forever be a blessing.
