Regina T. Adolphus

Regina Theresa Adolphus (Webster), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at the age of 77. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Regina was the cherished daughter of the late James J. Adolphus and Iska E. (LaBoye) Adolphus. She spent her formative years in Brooklyn, N.Y. alongside her siblings, Iska (Halliburton) and James Adolphus Jr. In 1955, the family moved to Lakeview, West Hempstead, where Regina blossomed into an accomplished student and all-around athlete at Malverne High School, as well as, being elected the first Black president of the Sports Night. She was recognized as Sportswoman of the Year upon her graduation. Regina was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, but chose to begin a family instead, relocating to San Francisco, California, where she welcomed her two sons, Woody (Hunter) and Ronnie Webster. After her divorce in 1970, Regina returned to Lakeview, where her children attended Malverne High School, following in her footsteps. A devoted mother, she served as a Boy Scout’s den mother and was actively involved in her sons’ sports endeavors, especially football. Her career began in banking, but she soon discovered her true passion for collaborating with people. She transitioned to a career in Human Resources, serving as Director of Training and Education at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center (Jacobi Hospital) for over 30 years. There, she mentored countless individuals, ensuring they had opportunities to succeed and thrive. In retirement, Regina continued her lifelong dedication to service as a deaconess at St. John’s Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for over three decades. Those who knew Regina will remember her love for fashion, shopping, and her talent as a seamstress, often crafting her own suits during her time at Jacobi Hospital. She had a deep affection for Christmas, and loved spoiling her sons with gifts, though her greatest gift was always her boundless love. Regina’s humor was infectious, often laughing at herself, and she was never one to pass up a good diner or buffet, especially if mashed potatoes were on the menu. She enjoyed road trips, especially throughout New England and Canada, embracing fall as her favorite season, and always preferring cooler climates. Regina faced her recent health challenges with grace and resilience, and now rests peacefully with her parents, and many other family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Woody (Lisa), Ronnie (Lisa); her grandchildren, Bryan, Jason, and Lauryn; her great-grandson, Kohen; her sisters, Iska (Jeff) and Sabrina; her brothers, James Jr. and Perry (Tammy); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends
