Romona Fortune

It is with great sadness that our beloved Romona Fortune passed on Oct 10,2024 while in South Nassau Mount Sinai Hospital at the age of 74. Romona leaves behind numerous family members and longtime friends.

After graduating from Grace Dodge High School in the Bronx, NY she enjoyed her entire working career as a manager overseeing corporate travel expenses at Equitable Life Insurance Co. in Midtown Manhattan, commuting from Rockaway Beach until she retired in 2005 after 35 years.

“Mona” as most of her loved ones knew her as, had a passion for Rabbits and all types of collectible Dolls. She enjoyed displaying her precious dolls as they provided her with an upbeat and cheery view of life. Mona amassed a collection of over 200 dolls and Rabbits.

Mona enjoyed traveling throughout her life from Europe to the Caribbean islands back to the West coast of the United States where most of her siblings resided. She loved her family and made it a point to stay in touch by phone and by plane.

Mona is survived by her Son Roland Brooks in Freeport, NY Grandchildren Anthony Brooks and Alana Brooks of Mineola, NY  Brothers Rassuli Fortune, Carl Fortune and Edgar Fortune of WA. Sister Rose Wilson of TX
