                                      Ruthven Oswald Awai

                             April 8, 1943     -   October 26, 2023

Ruthven Awai   was born in Diego Martin, Trinidad, to Maude and Lawrence Awai, the sixth of eight children. Ruthven passed away on Long Island, New York at the age of 80 years.

He emigrated to the US in 1969.  Shortly thereafter, he was employed by Verizon, and retired after 43 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife Joan, his children Dexter, Nigel, Kwesi and Cazemb, eleven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Also surviving him are his siblings Conrad, Joyce, Lawrence and Beatrice. In eternal peace he joins his late siblings Bernard (Ekvall), Weldon and Gwyneth.

He was a loving, kind, devoted husband, father and friend, also generous and caring to all.

We loved him dearly, but God loved him best.
