It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, who departed this life on May 8,2025 at the age of 92. A beacon of love, strength, and quiet grace, Solange leaves behind a legacy that will continue to warm the hearts of all who knew her. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on November 18, 1932, she was the very definition of resilience and humility. She met life’s challenges with unwavering independence and an enduring sense of humor, bringing light and laughter into every room she entered. Fiercely independent throughout her life, Solange remained active and self-sufficient well into her later years. Whether she was doing her own grocery shopping, managing her own finances, or tending her houseplants, she approached each day with determination and pride. She never asked for more than she needed, and she always gave more than was expected. Her love was expressed most often through her hands—whether she was baking bread from scratch, sewing quilts by hand, or tending to her cherished houseplants. Cooking and baking weren’t just hobbies for her; they were acts of love, and no one ever left her home hungry. Her home was a consistent safe-haven for the entire family and her kitchen a place of comfort and joy, where stories were shared over warm meals and sweet treats. A devoted matriarch, Solange was the heart of our family. She was always there, not just in times of celebration, but especially in times of need—stepping in without hesitation to care for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews alike. Her love knew no bounds, and her selflessness shaped generations. When she wasn’t caring for others, she found joy in the simple things: a good book, a heartfelt poem, a blooming flower, or a favorite hymn sung with quiet reverence. Her creativity shone through in the poetry she wrote and the songs she sang, each a reflection of her beautiful spirit. Solange is survived by her 4children:Edwidge, Wagner, Marie Danielle, and Lucrece , her 15 grandchildren :Yvelson, Bleuette, Alexandra, Jefferson, Vladimir, Nel, Francette, Dimitri, David, Lenny, Ketsia, Kenny, Darlynn-Mindy, Vardley, Lucevanie , 20 great-grandchildren : Janiyah, Colin, Zola, Imani, Nathaniel, Ezra, Mikayla, Wisdom, Blessing, Keysen, Genesis, Matthias, Micah, Yann, Lindsay, Amy, Jonathan, and Ynorah. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kerline. Her life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Though we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless lives she touched. A viewing will be held on May 15, 2025 at Harnett Funeral Home from 8:30-10:30 am . Following the viewing, there will be a requiem mass at Church of Saint Martha at 11am (546 Greengrove Avenue, Uniondale, New York).
