Sonja Aanensen

Sonja H. ‘Sony’ Aanensen passed away peacefully at her home  in West Babylon on August 10th at age 59. Born in Austin, Texas to Harold and Kinue, she spent much of her life in Uniondale, where she was a field hockey goalie, beloved Girl Scout troop leader, and purveyor of sundaes at Friendly’s. She touched many lives (and flights) in her later work as a travel agent, spending her spare time at the docks, watching K-Dramas, and making friends everywhere she went.

She is survived by her daughter, Katie, and her siblings Ken (Junko), Sandi (Bob), Michi, and Mike (Yuka)

A visitation will take place at Hartnett Funeral Home from 4pm-8pm on August 19. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the North Shore Animal League, or your local shelter.
