Wayne Phillips, son of the late Herman Phillips and Margaret Middleton-Phillips was born on November 1, 1952 in Glen Cove, NY. He attended public school in Glen Cove, NY and was a graduate of Glen Cove High School. At an early age, it was apparent that Wayne was not only intelligent but artistic as well. Wayne found self-expression in both his artwork and music, and as many know he was a quiet man with a brilliant mind. Wayne had two brothers, Michael & Mark Phillips, both preceded him in death.
He was united in holy matrimony to Gloria Real in January 31, 1971 and from this union they were blessed with one child.
Wayne continued his education at SUNY New Paltz where he achieved his doctorate degree in Social Work with the intent of helping others live a more fulfilling life.
Wayne quietly departed this life on Thursday, November 11 at Fairview Nursing Home in Forest Hills, NY.
Wayne will forever be remembered in the lives of his child, Nikia Hogsett; three grandchildren Yanise Hurt, Jeffrey Jefferson Jr. and Lyniah Brown; a niece Michelle Christopher; his former wife Gloria Real and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Special recognition to cousins Audrey Little-McLeod and Milton Little for their unwavering support through such a difficult time.
