William Deger Obituary

Bill Deger, born on January 31, 1933, in the Bronx, New York and passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 91 years old.

Bill was a veteran of the US Army, where he enlisted at the end of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the medical corp where he custom-built artificial limbs and assisted in the OR during surgeries. He was always proud of his work assisting those with tragic war wounds and helping them get their lives back.

Bill was the beloved husband of Lillian Deger, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. He was predeceased by his three siblings, Hilda Saunders, Erna Koenen, and George. Bill is survived by his four children: Diane Pelosi, Gary, Raymond, and Clifford; as well as seven grandchildren: William Howard, Max, Alex, Gregory, Heidi, Jordan, and Grant.

Throughout his life, Bill moved from Long Island to enjoy his retirement in Masthope, Pennsylvania. An accomplished entrepreneur, Bill’s career culminated with his ownership of American Litho in Bohemia, New York. During his working career, Bill regularly volunteered his printing services to a Cancer Research Institute and local non-profit organizations.

Bill found joy in many hobbies that reflected his creative spirit and love for family. He enjoyed winemaking and woodworking and treasured time spent with his loved ones and close friends. His warmth and passion for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Services will be held at Hartnett Funeral Home in Uniondale, New York. The wake will take place on Friday, January 10th, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, with a service at 7 PM. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, January 11th, from 10-11 AM, with burial immediately afterward at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale.

Bill’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May his legacy bring comfort to all who were fortunate to know him.
